Greg Anderson, PhD, Exercise Physiologist, TSCC-GOLD

Greg is a university professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, and active writer and researcher for the Twist Smart Muscle paradigm and education products. Spencer Baker, BHK (c)

Sport Conditioning Coach

Spencer is a student of Human Kinetics at Capilano University. As a multi-sport athlete, Spencer competed at representative level hockey, basketball, mountain biking, and rugby throughout his youth. He has now narrowed his focus as an elite level rugby player and has represented Team Canada and Team BC on numerous occasions. Spencer has traveled the world playing rugby and is continually striving to land an overseas professional contract. As a proud North Shore resident, you will often find him cruising on his bike or coaching community sports.

 

 

Kelly Bigelow, BHK, BA, CSEP-CEP

Sport Conditioning Coach

Kelly completed his Bachelors degree in Arts in 2004 with a focus in Psychology and then completed his Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics (Kinesiology and Health Sciences) in 2007, both from the University of British Columbia. Kelly’s background is in the sport of hockey where he has not only a great love for the game but also a great passion to help others in the sport. He has worked with people of all ages in various sports and fitness settings. Kelly also enjoys baseball and curling and loves to get outside in the summer to go camping, hiking or golfing.

Haleigh graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Human Kinetics Degree while playing 5 years of Varsity Hockey as a proud Thunderbird. As a high performance athlete, she trained at Twist and completed her first year of professional hockey in the 08/09 season in Berlin, Germany. Haleigh is originally from Smithers, BC where she grew up with her three older brothers.

Evan Eichler, BHK (c)

Sport Conditioning Coach

Originally from Wasaga Beach Ontario, Evan is currently the strength and conditioning coach at Langara College where he is also completing his Human Kinetics Diploma. After Langara he plans to continue on to UBC to complete his degree. Growing up with his amazing family in Ontario, Evan spent his youth playing competitive level hockey and still enjoys getting on the ice any chance he gets. In the summer months you will find him playing beach volleyball, running along the seawall or charging the Grouse Grind in addition to enjoying time spent with close friends.

Brynne Elliott

Manager Continuing Education

Brynne completed her degree in Kinesiology from the University College of the Fraser Valley and completed her Masters of Science at the University of British Columbia, where she studied the neurophysiology behind balance training. Growing up Brynne was a competitive swimmer, and continues to swim in a local masters program. Brynne enjoys all of what the west coast has to offer by using her spare time to go snowboarding, hiking, and running.

Coach Development Co-ordinator & SCC Assistant Manager

Originally from Northern British Columbia, Mason completed his Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics with a minor in Sport Psychology at the University of British Columbia. He actively coaches Twist athletes of all levels and sport backgrounds and delivers Twist Education at conferences and workshops.  Having played Lacrosse for over 25 years, Mason is an NCCP certified level 3 Coach. He enjoys spending his time playing lacrosse, kayaking, hiking, and getting out to enjoy all the west coast has to offer.

Kyle Guay

Sport Conditioning Coach

Born and raised on the North Shore of Vancouver, Kyle has recently completed his Diploma in the school of Human Kinetics at Capilano College and is completing his degree at UBC. Spending all of his youth playing AAA hockey and high level soccer he made the switch to a national level mountain bike racer after graduating high school. In the winter he loves to hit the mountains and enjoy some fresh powder either on his skis or snowboard.

Janice Hutton

Education Manager

Janice is the co-author of accredited home study programs and developer of Twist International sport conditioning education events. With over 25 years of diverse experience in fitness and sport, she works as a consultant, personal trainer, fitness instructor, sport conditioning coach, author, and presenter at conferences across North America. She is also a member of the BOSU International presenting team. Janice grew up as national level competitive swimmer, and enjoyed success as a professional swim coach at 4 Canadian universities working with national and international class swimmers. A proud mother of 2 active boys, Janice dedicates extra time to community and school sports development.

Sarah completed her Bachelors degree in Health and Fitness from the University of British Columbia. As a former varsity soccer player and CCAA All-Canadian, she brings a love of competition and intensity to her training, coaching a variety of athletes from team sports to individual pursuits.  When she is not playing soccer herself, you can find Sarah on field coaching for Vancouver Girls Soccer Club, as head coach for the VGSC Force.

Bringing the Kiwi connection to Twist, Suzanne was lured to Canada by the snow – the final stop in her ski & travel industry career as a ski program facilitator in Whistler. She has experience at a management level in the hotel and restaurant industry and was co-owner of a successful restaurant in a NZ ski resort. Prior to joining Team Twist, she was the Program Manager for a business coaching company in North Vancouver and a client of the SCC. Connecting with people and being in service is undoubtedly Suzanne’s passion. Her sporting passion is netball – a team game that she plays competitively with the assistance of team training in the Twist SCC.

 

 

Amanda Eydt

After being a TWIST athlete for almost 5 years, Amanda joined the TWIST team as part-time Client Experience Specialist in 2009.  Amanda studied sciences at UBC & obtained a Masters Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University.  She comes to the team with 10 years experience at TELUS where she was a Project Manager & worked at a management level in Consumer Marketing, Technology, and Consumer & Business Sales.  When not at work, you can find Amanda playing women’s hockey or hitting the slopes as an avid down hill skier & snowboarder.

Arielle Nash B.Kin, CSCS, TSCC-GOLD, RYT

Vice President - Franchising / Sport Conditioning Coach

Arielle manages Canadian and International franchise development and operations. As a Sport Conditioning Coach she works with athletes of all levels from amateur to professional. After completing her degree in Kinesiology at McMaster, Arielle began as a Master Coach in Ontario before relocating to Vancouver in 2006. Her diverse background as a presenter, personal trainer, competitive athlete, cycling instructor and yoga teacher brings passion, knowledge and inspiration to her coaching style. Along with her passion for exploring other cultures through travel, in her off-time Arielle can be found practicing Ashtanga yoga, hiking, cycling, snow-boarding or one of the many other forms of outdoor activities available on the west coast.

Sport Conditioning Coach & Nutritionist

.Educated in Kinesiology, sport conditioning and nutrition, Lisa takes her combined passion for physical performance and nutrition to guide her clients toward optimal health. In completion of her studies as a holistic nutritionist, Lisa has worked with a wide range of clients including a number of elite and professional level athletes. She has lectured on the topic of sport nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and Twist Sport Conditioning; as well as worked with individual sport teams in preparation for competitions and tournaments. Lisa is passionate about educating adults, students, and families on making healthier food choices and the benefits of good nutrition. Lisa is also a Senior Sport Conditioning Coach at Twist Sport Conditioning Inc. with over 6 years of private and group coaching experience. She coaches a variety of athletes including hockey and soccer players, dancers, figure skaters and gymnasts (trampoline jumpers). Lisa also has experience working with the youngest of athletes, starting at age 6.

Chris Pritchett

Baseball Conditioning Specialist

Chris's Pro Baseball career spanned 13 years, including 10 years with the Anaheim Angels, and a year each with the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburg Pirates and Chicago Cubs. Since retiring from baseball in 2003, Chris has completed his Bachelor of Arts in History at UCLA, a Masters degree in Exercise Science from California University at Pennsylvania, and a Performance Enhancement Specialist Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has worked with a variety of athletes off all ages, amateur and professional, both in the gym as a sports conditioning coach and on the field as a batting instructor in the Oakland A’s farm system. Chris continues to attend workshops and conferences to improve his coaching skills and understanding of human movement, in order to help others achieve their own unique goals.

Born and raised in the prairies, Michael spent the vast majority of his youth playing sports. But his passion was playing hockey. Michael joined the Twist team in the spring of 2009. Michael has always had a passion for sports and fitness. He has been playing hockey since the age of 5 and played to the level of Junior A in the WHL. Michael brings a positive energy and a strong knowledge of sports to the Twist organization. He enjoys the summers in B.C. by hiking, golfing, boating, and roller blading. In the winter, Michael stays active by playing hockey.

With a degree in Psychology and Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, Julie has over 18 years of experience in the Fitness Industry as a personal trainer, with a focus in Retail and Commercial Product Sales and Marketing. Overseeing a team of 6 Product Division Reps and Customer Service Specialists, Julie enjoys bringing the most innovative products and tools in fitness and sport performance to our Professional, Commercial and Consumer customers across Canada and around the world.  As an active Mom of 2 young girls, Julie seldom misses the time for a workout and looks forward to hitting the trails in the North Shore Mountains with her 2 dogs, Loosey and Rico!

Dean overseas the Twist Athlete Conditioning Operations and manages the flagship Twist Centre in North Vancouver, BC. Dean earned his bachelors degree in Human Kinetics (Major) and Commerce (Minor) at the University of British Columbia and is currently working on his Masters degree. Coach Shiels played three years of CIS Varsity Hockey where he was an Academic All-Canadian Defenceman. Dean has been coaching athletes for over 10 years. Dean can often be found on the training floor working with youth and adult athletes from a variety of sports and levels to professional athletes from the NHL and MLB. He enjoys the summers in B.C. by hiking, camping, golfing, boating, and wakeboarding. In the winter, Dean stays active by playing hockey.

 

 

 

Kristen Tarchuk, PFT

Sport Conditioning Coach

Kristen Tarchuk is a born and raised mountain girl who grew up in Banff, Alberta. After finishing her PFT program at Mount Royal University in Calgary she was excited to make the move to BC and join the Twist Team. Kristen comes to us with an extensive background in high performance sports training and fitness. With 9 years of competitive ski racing to her career, she spent 3 years on the Alberta Ski Team followed by a short stint on the National Ski Team before having to retire due to injury.

Peter Twist

President & CEO

Coach Twist coached in the National Hockey League for 11 years and is currently a consultant for several NHL players and agents. An exercise physiologist with a M.Sc and a specialization in Coaching Science, Twist has published over 400 papers, authored 10 books and 19 DVD’s on athlete development, while coaching over 700 professional athletes including league MVP’s Mark Messier (hockey), Justin Morneau (baseball) and Hakeem Olajuwon (basketball). A headline presenter at all major international sport and fitness conferences, including IDEA, NSCA, MultiTrax, FitPro, CanFitPro, ECA and the Australian Fitness Network, Peter was honored with the National Strength & Conditioning Association's 1998 Presidents Award and Can-Fit-Pro 2003 Specialty Presenter of the Year Award.

 

 

Shelley Chalmers, BHK

Customer Service & Inside Sales Representative

Shelley joined our Customer Service and Sales Team in 2009. Shelley completed her Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in 2006 while competing with the Varsity Volleyball Team.  Having competed at two University Games in both Turkey and Bangkok, she went on to play for the Senior Women’s National Team, falling just short of qualifying for the 2008 Olympics.  Following two seasons of professional volleyball in both Romania and Switzerland, Shelley has returned home to further her education.
